The Vicious Hillbilly or Dating in the Deep South, a tale of woe in story and song Runtime 55 min Storyteller/singer-songwriter, Dawn Larsen, grew up in the Ozarks amid lots of mountain music, arts, and storytelling. Driving down the road one day, trying to decide on the order of songs for her CD, The Vicious Hillbilly, she realized that the CD was a chronicle of her pathetic love life via online dating as a mature, progressive, educated hillbilly girl living in the South. She fashioned those experiences into a one-woman show, The Vicious Hillbilly or Dating in the Deep South, a tale of woe in story and song. A poignant comedy, highlighting 10 lessons (and one bonus lesson!) learned, the show combines her original songs with the story of the journey of her discovery of who she is, what she wants, and that love is her divine right. She has performed this show for two years at festivals including: Cincy Fringe, Atlanta Fringe, St. Louis Fringe, Louisville Fringe, Greensboro Fringe, Southeastern Theatre Conference Fringe, and Nashville Women's Work. |

Reviews
"Larsen could be your closest friend, sitting in your kitchen, humming along to Patsy Cline and sipping moonshine from a teacup as she spins you a yarn about looking for love." Cincinnati CityBeat
"Beautiful/sad/funny original songs, an uplifting message and a dynamite story. So happy I got to hear your voice and laugh at your story. Not all rednecks are bad - and this dirty liberal hick enjoyed the crap out of your dirty liberal hillbilly play!" Trey Tatum, Cincinnati Fringe
An unapologetic tale of dating past the age that society often tells us that we can be seen as desirable -- the author fiercely owns her sexuality and desire and knows her worth... Her singing and songwriting is exemplary. Engaging and entertaining. -Atlanta Fringe Fest judge
